Creative Writing Club Six Month Schedule 2023

Looking forward

Looking Back

So far we have completed some really great writing activities this year starting with Journaling back in January as a way to reflect on what we achieved, where we want to go, and, most importantly, how we are going to get there. I prepared some writing prompts for teachers to use with their students and even some prompts for teachers to reflect on their own personal and professional development. Find time to check them out.

From Journaling we turned towards our staple writing genre, Short Story writing. But this time we did something different by taking a narrative poem as a springboard for discussion and inspiration. Remember there is a collection of short stores and poems for your to enjoy on the Your Stories page.

As of now we are in Digital Storytelling mode, brainstorming ideas of what is important to us, adhering to typical storytelling conventions while learning about different tools that can help us tell our story. We will share our artefacts once they have been created, so keep an eye out.

Looking Forward

Looking ahead we have some exciting topics coming up. For example, next month we tackle blog writing. I have written a number of blogs in the past, from a TravelBlog to Tumblr to Wordpress and now here I am on Squarespace. I will share my story and help you write your first or simply your next blog post.

As you may know, I was a regular member of a poetry group, but unfortunately am unable to attend as regularly as I would like at the moment. Despite this, I find reading, writing and sharing poems such fun, I want to share the love with you. Poems can be short and fun, so they really are the ideal accompaniment to a language lesson, and I will show you how.

Finally, to wrap up the six month schedule we will be creating once again, this time an ebook. We will brainstorm ideas, create an outline, fill out that outline and then publish it in ebook format. Maybe this will be the time for me to convert my old travel blog from my first years living in China into an online magazine. Let’s see.

Creative Writing Club

The Club is an online community of language teachers and their friends developing their writing habit. We analyse and replicate short forms of writing like short stories, poems and personal/narrative essays. And we integrate digital tools to enhance the reading, writing and publishing process. if you want to join us, go to the homepage to learn more about the Club and sign up.

See you on the other side.
